Seldom does February live long in the memory particularly when the joys of Spring are just around the corner. But when it comes to being exceptionally wet and windy this one took all the prizes. Take a look at February’s weather 2022. Photo taken on 22nd – the day after storm Franklin
February’s Weather 2022
A whole month of strong south-westerlies with three major storms in quick succession interspersed with a very short, but spectacular and unexpected snowfall. As for rain, it was a deluge with twice the monthly average, together with many miserable days given the winter sunshine was in very short supply.
Temperature-wise, with the constant SWs, this February could well turn out to be one of the mildest on record in the UK. Only two very minor air frosts all winter.
On another upbeat note, my sunshine recorder is reminding me that the sun is now getting higher in the sky and thus the days are getting longer. With this in mind, I have penned a celebration in my diary for 27 March when the clocks go forward an hour – can’t wait!
